Other Custom Projects

We especially enjoy the opportunity to use a piece of wood that is special to an individual and make something unique from it. Heirloom takes on a whole new meaning when that happens. Examples of projects we’ve completed include fireplace mantels, dining tables, night stands, kitchen or hunting knives, coffee tables, oyster tables, etc.

True story:

My cousin called me one day and asked if I’d like a slab from a walnut tree. After only a little discussion, I realized it was the walnut tree on the property my mother grew up on. I told her about it, and she said “How cool! I used to climb that tree!” She was 90 years old at the time we had that discussion. I quickly secured a slab from my cousin, and made this bench for our bedroom.

My mother lived to be 96 years old. I see that bench (pictured here) every day, several times a day. Not only is it beautiful and functional, but it reminds me of my mother, as a child, climbing that tree every time I see it. That is a precious memory!
